Gorilla Glue removed from Tessica Brown’s hair after treatment with plastic surgeon Dr. Michael K. Obeng

LOS ANGELES – Tessica Brown’s call for help has been watched by millions.

She went viral for using the powerful Gorilla Glue – a strong industrial adhesive – in her hair when she ran out of a product called Got2b Glued. For more than a month, Brown’s hair remained glued to his scalp.

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael K. Obeng, showed empathy when learning about his story.

“I saw how much pain she could be in,” said Dr. Obeng. “And after talking to her, I realized that she needed help.”

He started working on a solution that would be safe and effective. Brown flew from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The hour-long procedure performed free of charge through Obeng’s non-profit organization Restore worked.

“I was very happy to be able to put a smile on someone’s face to eliminate headache and suffering,” said Obeng.

Brown is finally able to run his fingers through his hair again.

“It was a month, but it felt like years,” Brown told our sister station KABC-TV.

“I have a happy dance,” said Brown smiling.

But she admits that the condemnation and ridicule comments were painful for her and her family.

“‘She’s so stupid. That was stupid’, you know, ‘You should cut off your whole head,'” she said of the comments on social media.

One of his children was bullied.

“Someone invented a song,” said Brown. “But instead of saying to her, ‘Don’t worry about what people say’, I was in the bathroom crying because I’m reading all these comments … People have to understand that you can’t take someone down when you’re so low . “

Brown, a mother of five who runs a nursery and a dance team, was supported. His video sparked a conversation about the hairstyle challenges that many black women face due to Eurocentric beauty standards.

Others simply let her know that they were rooting for her. She said she planned to respond individually to anyone who came to her.

“If it takes a month, three months, I’ll thank everyone in my inbox,” said Brown.

She regretted posting the video, but is now relieved to have helped find a solution.

“All the negative things that everyone was saying, I don’t even care. My hair is here, the glue is gone, ”she said.
