Google announced plans to invest more than $ 7 billion in US offices and data centers this year, with $ 1 billion to be spent in the San Francisco Bay area of California alone.
Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google and its parent company Alphabet, said there will be office developments in Atlanta, Washington, DC, Chicago and New York, and data centers in Nebraska, South Carolina, Virginia, Nevada and Texas.
“In 2020, Google Search, Google Play, YouTube and Google’s advertising tools helped provide $ 426 billion in economic activity to more than 2 million American non-profit companies, publishers, creators and developers, according to our 2020 US Economic Impact Report, released today, ”said Pichai.
Google has more than 52,000 employees in California. It plans to hire an additional 10,000 workers in the United States as a whole. In the past three years, Google has invested nearly $ 30 billion in offices and data centers.

Last month, Alphabet reported revenue of $ 57 billion in the fourth quarter, an increase of 23% over the previous year, as the pandemic forced more and more people to go online. Amazon, Apple and Facebook also reported growing gains.
Google plans to complete two Mountain View office projects this year: the 55,300 m² Charleston East project and the 100,000 m² Bay View project. Google will also start work on a campus in Sunnyvale, California, using a massive wooden building with a project by the Danish company Bjarke Ingels Group.
This project, announced in 2018, will have two 100,000 m2 buildings with a capacity for 4,500 employees (read more).
