Google struggles to fix its new game Stadia after closing its own studios

Google is struggling to fix one of its new Stadia games, after closing its own in-house game studios earlier this month. Journey to the wild planet debuted at Stadia on February 1, the same day that Google closed its Stadia studios and fired several developers.

Journey to the wild planet was developed by Typhoon Studios, a studio that Google acquired to create its original Stadia titles. Players have found that it is full of bugs in Stadia, including game-breaking issues that prevent certain players from getting past the main menu.

Eurogamer reports that Reddit users have been complaining about the problems for weeks and it is unclear who will actually fix it. Since Typhoon Studios employees left Google or moved to new roles, Journey to the wild planet Stadia players have been trying to contact Google and the publisher 505 Games. While 505 Games published the game on other platforms, it is Google that has all the game code and data according to a support response that Reddit users claim to have received.

This left players confused about who will fix the game, and Google has promised that it is investigating the problems. “We are aware of this and our team is working diligently with our partner editor to resolve the issue,” says the Stadia team on Twitter. A Google employee also posted on Stadia’s subreddit to confirm that the company is investigating the problems.

It is unclear when a fix will be available, and the game is still packaged for free as part of Google’s Stadia Pro subscription. Journey to the wild planet it was one of the first games to be launched by Google’s internal development organization Stadia Games and Entertainment. Now it’s getting ready to be a memorable one too.
