Google Stadia has announced a plan for 100 games by the end of this year. The news comes shortly after the news that the company was closing its game studio for the platform. The blog of the Google community itself had more details, but this signals a renewed effort to make the cloud gaming platform a major player in the years to come. There are definitely still some problems to solve, but addressing where the timeline for more games is will be a big boost. Complaints about the set of experiences available at Stadia were common around the time of launch. FIFA 21, Trial and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero everyone will be arriving at the streaming platform. So, that adds some much needed variety to what Google is planning in this space. Time will tell if all of these releases roll back.
Google Stadia chief Phil Harrison spoke about the decision to end his initial efforts on the corporate blog.
“We launched Stadia with the aim of instantly making your favorite games available wherever you want. With the recent successful launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia, gameplay on all types of devices, including iOS, extending our list of YouTube integrations and our global expansions, it’s clear that Stadia’s technology has been proven and works at scale ” he said to the fans. “Having games streamed to any screen is the future of this industry, and we will continue to invest in Stadia and its underlying platform to provide the best cloud gaming experience for our partners and the gaming community. This has been Stadia’s vision from the beginning. “
Harrison continued: “In 2021, we are expanding our efforts to help game developers and publishers take advantage of our platform technology and deliver games directly to their players. We see an important opportunity to work with partners looking for a gaming solution built entirely on Stadia’s advanced technical infrastructure and platform tools. We believe that this is the best way to transform Stadia into a long-term sustainable business that helps to expand the sector ”.
