Google Prompt 2FA UI on Android has dark theme

If you’re not using security keys, Google Prompt is the next best two-factor authentication method for securing accounts. Google is now updating the Prompt’s Android UI with a much-needed dark theme.

Compared to the previous iteration, the new Google Prompt centralizes the company’s logo, “Are you trying to sign in?” title and email address. Although it looks smaller, it improves readability by no longer grouping it with Device Information, near and time.

In the meantime, the “No, it’s not me” and “Yes” buttons now use proper capital letters instead of being all capitalized. Together with a red “X” and a green check mark, this contributes to interesting visual improvements that are also in line with the outline style of the material’s theme. Of course, the biggest one is the dark theme that helps to replace the completely white nature of this canvas.

The Google Prompt dark theme is still being released. For example, it is active on personal accounts, but not on workspace addresses. This change was first detected in early 2019, but it was not widely released at the time and has undergone several adjustments since then, including moving the buttons upward on the screen to aid accessibility.
