Google Nest Hello, IQ cameras fall due to partial outage

If you’re receiving notifications from Nest that some of your cameras are offline, you’re not alone. Nest confirmed a partial outage today that appears to be affecting some cameras, especially the Nest Hello video bell.

Seen on the Nest Status Dashboard, this partial disruption removed live video and video history for some users, but it does not appear to be affecting all devices. Instead, only specific devices appear to be affected.

In our tests, we found that Nest Hello and Nest Cam IQ products are most affected by this disruption, with traditional Nest Cams, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Hub Max functioning normally. We note, however, that the original Nest Cam appears to be ignoring the shutdown command during this partial outage.

Our Nest Hello unit appeared to be offline for the first time at around 12 pm ET, about two hours ago, when this article was published. It’s about the same time that a peak in user reports about the Nest outage DownDetector, with many comments confirming that Nest Hello and Cam IQ devices appear to be the most affected.

The disruption appears to occur at least across the country in the United States, and we have also seen reports from the EU. Google did confirm that the Nest team is aware of the problem and working to fix it. We will continue to update this article as the situation evolves.

16h30 update: Google says on Twitter that these problems must be resolved. We can confirm that the Nest Hello Doorbell bell and Nest Cam IQ are working right now.
