In September, Google Maps announced the option to pay parking fees from its Android app. Payments went through Google Pay and the entire process was done in cooperation with Passport Parking. In a new blog post, Google announced that Maps’s “Pay for Parking” feature is now available in more than 400 U.S. cities, including Boston, Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and soon to iOS users.
In addition, Google Maps users will be able to pay transit fees at an additional 80 transit agencies globally via GPay. Public transit users in select locations like San Francisco will also be able to purchase public transit credit through Maps for effortless, contactless public transit travel. The new public transport payment feature will be launched in the coming weeks.
