Google Home adds settings to customize the ‘Feed’ tab

With the last major renovation in 2019, Google has simplified the Home app to have two primary screens of four. Google Home now has settings to customize the “Feed” tab to “choose the types of events” that may appear.

Widely scrolled today, there is a new button in the upper left corner at the top of the second tab of Google Home. The “Feed customization settings” page begins with “Full home page”, where Google lists two categories:

  • Domestic routines: routine at home and away from home
  • Wi-Fi: network status, Wi-Fi activity

“Cameras” will list which devices are available in your home, with features that vary depending on the model. Nest Cam at Hub Max shows only “seen events”, such as People and Movement, but the Hello video bell also shows Packages. The defined zones are also listed.

These new Google Home settings can make the Feed tab less complicated to use, with its two sections for priority and recent events already quite busy. The discovery suggestions at the bottom have not been changed, but Google has updated the header font for each section to make it bolder.

Google first announced this feature last month with Home 2.34 – along with Google / Nest Wifi real-time statistics and Nest Hub support (2nd generation), but is now widely implemented (server-side update) ) on Android and iOS after this week’s 2.35 update that revealed a new Nest device.
