There is another class action lawsuit focused on games in progress, this one against Google Stadia on whether or not Stadia can run games in 4K resolution. The lawsuit was originally filed in October, but had a development earlier this month, when lawyers for co-defendants id Software filed a removal notice with the federal court.

As noted by PC Gamer, the lawsuit claims that Google, Bungie and id Software misrepresent Stadia’s resources, saying games like Destiny 2 and Doom Eternal could reach 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. It turns out that, none games it was playable in true 4K. The basis for the process is that anyone who purchased Google Stadia Founder’s Edition, Google Stadia Premier Edition or a monthly subscription to Google Stadia Pro did so with the intention of playing in true 4K resolution, rather than playing enhanced versions of such games .

The lawsuit was initially filed with the New York Supreme Court, but id Software’s lawyers filed for a move to New York’s Eastern District, a federal court. Most civil cases – collective actions in particular – take a long time, often years, to reach the courts. Furthermore, the majority of the classes solved, either as a class or individually.

Class actions are also pending in federal courts against Sony, for PlayStation 5 controllers displaying “Drift DualSense,” and CD Projekt Red, for those who lost money investing in CDPR before and after the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

It’s been a tough month for Google Stadia: February 1st Stadia closed all internal development studios, shifting the focus to offering Stadia technology to video game publishers. Last week, Kotaku reported that Stadia’s leadership praised these teams – comprised of about 150 developers – just a week before dismissing them. And then there is Terraria: Andrew Spinks, developer of the popular craft game worldwide, canceled your Stadia door after it was supposedly blocked from your Google accounts.
