The mascot of Android throughout its history was everyone’s favorite green robot, unofficially nicknamed Bugdroid. Google may have stopped creating fun mascot statues to celebrate new releases of the operating system, but the Android team started 2021 with a video tutorial for creating an origami Bugdroid.
A new video uploaded today on the Android Developers channel on YouTube shows how to build an Android origami. The plans were made by the Google software engineer Lisa Nguyen Quang Doand put on video by Google’s VP engineer Seang Chau.
The end result after about 11 minutes of bending is a Bugdroid head (remember, Google cut the body in 2019) that works like a puppet. A PDF printout of the instructions is available here (mirror).
