Google Assistant’s ‘Memory’ feature can renew reminders on Android

Google is working on a new feature for the Assistant on Android called “Memory”, which can make you a useful organizer, according to a recent APK identified by 9to5Google. The idea is that you can save screen content, images, reminders, ideas and more in one place and then find them again using an intelligent search function.

Depending on the application’s screens, you can store items in Memory using a verbal command from the Google Assistant or a shortcut on the home screen. This includes articles, books, contacts, events, flights, hotels, images, movies, music, notes, photos, places, playlists, products, recipes, reminders, restaurants, screenshots, shipments, TV shows, videos and sites. It will also save screenshots, URLs, location and other information that happens in context.

After saving items, you can view them in a memory feed located next to the current Snapshot menu. It will appear in reverse chronological order, as cards labeled “Oldest Memories” and “Today”. For certain items in Google Drive, such as Docs or Sheets, the card will show a preview. Depending on what you have stored, Google will allow you to do things like “Search flight status”, “Watch the trailer”, “Cooking time”, “Track shipment” and more. If you have created a reminder, it will also be saved in memory.

That said, Memory looks like a super-charged, free-form voice reminder app with advanced search capabilities that can help users stay better organized. At the moment, however, it is still in testing – so there is no information on when or even if it will be released to the public.
