“Good Morning Britain” host Susanna Reid spoke about the departure of her controversial former host, Piers Morgan, during a segment of the show on the air on Wednesday.
Reid opened the show recognizing Morgan’s story of making controversial comments on the air.
“Now, Piers and I disagree on many things, and that dynamic was one of the things that viewers loved on the show,” she said. “He is, without a doubt, an outspoken, defiant, obstinate and disturbing speaker. He has a lot of critics and a lot of fans. “
Reid then referred to Piers’ latest attacks on “Good Morning Britain”, in which he rejected Meghan Markle’s experience of dealing with racism as a member of the royal family and cast doubt on the revelation in his interview with Oprah Winfrey of that she had thought of suicide during her time as a real worker.
“You all know that I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview, he clarified his comments about her mental health on yesterday’s show,” she said. “There are many voices in the ‘GMB’ and everyone has a say. But now Piers has decided to leave the program. Some of you can cheer and others will boo. “
Morgan, who frequently used his “Good Morning Britain” position and his Twitter platform to attack the Duchess of Sussex, received a widespread reaction earlier this week after he discussed his interview with Winfrey on Monday, saying, “I’m sorry , I don’t believe a word she says … ”
“I wouldn’t believe it if she read the weather report to me,” he added.
Morgan apparently tried to clarify his positions on the program the next day, noting that he believes issues of mental illness and suicide should “be taken extremely seriously.“But he prefaced that thought, arguing that he” generally “did not believe what Meghan said during her and Prince Harry’s meeting with Winfrey on Sunday night. Meghan’s relentless critic also left the set of “Good Morning Britain” during Tuesday’s show after climate host Alex Beresford called him after his treatment of the Duchess.

British television channel ITV announced Morgan’s departure on Tuesday, stating that Ofcom, the UK’s telecommunications watchdog, has received more than 41,000 complaints about Morgan’s comments on the air about Meghan.
On Wednesday, several media outlets reported that someone on behalf of the Duchess had formally complained to ITV that Morgan’s comments could impact viewers who are dealing with mental health problems.
Later, on Wednesday’s “Good Morning Britain” segment, Reid noted that she had worked as a presenter alongside Morgan for more than five years.
“It will certainly be very different,” she said. “But the shows continue, and so on.”
