GoldenEye 007: canceled Xbox 360 Remaster footage discovered

A full game and thirty minutes of multiplayer has emerged for the remastered Xbox Live Arcade of the classic N64 GoldenEye 007. YouTuber Graslu00 shared the GoldenEye 007 XBLA (2007) – Longplay, which is running at 4K / 60 FPS on the Xenia emulator, and gives fans a glimpse of what Rare’s remastering would look like if rights issues weren’t in the way. This is not the first time that we have seen footage of this canceled project that appeared to be almost completed, as a minor gameplay appearance appeared in 2016 that showed updated visuals, the ability to switch between old and remastered graphics, and more.

A modern reimagination / remake of GoldenEye 007 was released for the Wii in 2010 by Activision and, in our review, we said “What could have ended a game that ran on autopilot and simply depended on a name to sell it changed to be one of the best first-person shooter games on the Wii. GoldenEye has a fantastic one-player campaign that looks fresh and familiar, and the multiplayer attention – something that most GoldenEye Nintendo 64 fans have near and dear – is incredible and something rarely seen on the Nintendo console. “

In the YouTube video, Graslu00 notes that they have been told that this version will possibly be released to the public in some way in 2021.

While we may not get a suitable GoldenEye remastered anytime soon, Hitman developer IO Interactive is working on a new James Bond game that “will allow players to step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn 00 status early on in the story Bond’s source code. “
