Golden Nuggets: 49ers could jump as high as No. 9 in the NFL Draft order today

The 49ers’ regular season was disappointing. Super Bowl expectations were ruined five quarters in the season. Advance 17 weeks and San Francisco won’t have a chance to make the playoffs. This off-season must be full of drama and rumors, however.

Shanahan’s comments on Jimmy G’s future upset Spikes

“As a player, how do you feel?” Spikes said with concern about the latest “Behind the mask.

Spikes likens this to a “big punch to the stomach”.

Still, Spikes knows that there must be a plan in place if Jimmy G doesn’t return to the 49ers.

Monetarily speaking, they will have an additional $ 26 million in available coverage space if they do not bring Garoppolo back. And while Spikes indicates that this sounds like a lot, compared to the 2021 salaries of other defenders in the league, it doesn’t even make it into the top 10.

What to expect when the Seahawks play against the 49ers on Sunday – plus Bob Condotta’s prediction

The X factor

Advance score

As all fans know, the Seahawks were never known to kick off with Carroll. The 2013 team, which scored 417 points and almost 26 per game on its way to the Super Bowl title, scored just 69 in the first quarter (4.4 per game), 21st in the NFL. This year’s team was breaking that trend – in the first seven games of the season, Seattle had 56 points in the first quarter, eight per game, to qualify for first place in the NFL. In eight games since then, Seattle scored 27 points in the first quarter – with only a touchdown in the first quarter in the last five games – and dropped to 5.5 in the season, 12th in the NFL. Obviously, scoring more points at the end of the game is all that matters. But in both playoff losses over the past two years, the Seahawks fought early before delaying the attack. And they may want to reverse that trend before entering the postseason.

The 2021 draft sowing scenarios for 49ers at the end of the season

With a loss

This is the only significant or likely way for 49ers to move up the draft. At 6-9, they are currently 15th in the draft order.

The main tiebreaker between teams with the same record is the strength of the schedule. 49ers (0.544 schedule strength) lose most of the ties. There are potentially six, but more likely five points that San Francisco can win.

  • If the Carolina Panthers (5-10, 0.529 SOS) won the New Orleans Saints (11-4), there is an external chance that 49ers could win a seat. It would be necessary for the Panthers’ programming strength to increase significantly and for the 49ers to fall. A defeat by the Saints would diminish the strength of both teams’ schedules. This is a very unlikely scenario, but it would mean +1 location.
  • If the Denver Broncos (5-10, 0.567 SOS) beat the Oakland Raiders (7-8, 0.542 SOS), the 49ers would get +1 location.
  • If the Dallas Cowboys (6-9, 0,465 SOS) won the New York Giants (5-10) and Washington (6-9, .465 SOS) beat the Philadelphia Eagles (4-10-1), the 49ers would win +1 location. Washington is currently in a playoff spot, but if they lose and Dallas wins, they will leave that playoff spot and enter a high draft choice, becoming a washout. Nothing changes if Dallas loses.
  • If the Los Angeles Chargers (6-9, 0.490 SOS) won the Kansas City Chiefs (14-1), who are resting many of their starters, including Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill, and who the Chargers took to overtime earlier this season, the 49ers would win +1 location.
  • If the Minnesota Vikings (6-9, 0.50 SOS) won the Detroit Lions (5-10, 0.504 SOS), the 49ers win +1 location.
  • If the New England Patriots (6-9, 0.533 SOS) won the New York Jets (2-13) or if the strength of the Patriots schedule increases and the 49ers (0.544) drops enough, a loss of the Patriots can also mean +1 location.

It’s all of them. Currently, in 15th position, there are about five likely scenarios for the 49ers to jump in the draft of the order, possibly to the 10th position. The ninth is technically possible, but highly unlikely.

Williams believes that only injuries kept 49ers out of the playoffs

“It’s a shame to lose games,” said Williams. “It is a pity that we have a Super Bowl list and it is a pity that we were not able to put these guys on the pitch as many times as we needed to have a successful season.”

“It’s been a roller coaster ride to be honest, but I was very blessed to be back on the field,” said Williams. “I was very blessed to put my boots back on and put my helmet back on and enjoy the camaraderie in the locker room.

“It was bittersweet. It’s a shame that we didn’t realize our potential, but it was definitely cute to go back there with the guys, feeling that adrenaline rush of playing football again and just being the person I believe God created me to be. ”
