Regina King makes history as the second African American woman to receive the Golden Globe award for best director

Oscar winner Regina King has managed to make history once again after the 78 Golden Globe nominations were announced on Wednesday morning.
The 50-year-old triple threat is only the second African-American woman to receive a nomination for best director on Globo, after Selma’s filmmaker Ava DuVernay in 2014.
It is especially impressive considering that the critically acclaimed drama from Amazon Studios – based on the 2013 Kemp Powers play – marked Regina’s debut as a director.
