The Hollywood award season begins on Sunday, February 28, with the 78th Golden Globe Awards, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Golden Globes, generally considered a harbinger of those who can take home awards on other shows like the Oscars, will look a little different this year thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. The hosts and presenters will be in different locations in the United States and around the world.
Streaming services finally stood out on the globe, with Netflix leading the group with 20 nominations for their television shows; Hulu has six nominations in total, Apple TV Plus has two and Disney Plus has one. In the movie categories (Globes honor movies and TV shows), Netflix leads with 22 nominations.
And it seems that the Golden Globe judges have heard the criticisms of previous years about the exclusion of women from the category of best director. This year, three of the five nominees for best director are women.
What time does the Golden Globe start?
The Golden Globe will start at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT on Sunday, February 28. As it has done in recent years, NBC is broadcasting the three-hour award show.
How do I watch the Golden Globe?
Golden Globe will be available for live streaming on the NBC website or app, but you will need to enter your TV provider’s information to watch. You can also watch on Hulu Plus Live TV and YouTubeTV, both with paid subscriptions.
Where can I watch the pre-show?
As it does every year, E! is showing its pre-show from 18h ET / 15h PT. The official pre-show will begin broadcasting at 6:30 pm ET / 3:30 pm PT Golden Globe Twitter account and the official Golden Globe website of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. NBC will begin its red carpet coverage at 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT.
Who is presenting the Golden Globe?
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are back as co-hosts, returning for the fourth time. The duo was hosted in 2013, 2013 and 2015. They will be bicastal this year: Fey will be live in New York, while Poehler will be in Beverly Hills.
THE list of presenters includes: Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, Annie Mumolo, Joaquin Phoenix, Kristen Wiig, Renee Zellweger, Bryce Dallas Howard, Christopher Meloni, Rosie Perez, Christian Slater, Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish, Kate Hudson, Margot Robbie and Kenan Thompson.
