Zack Snyder fans have successfully orchestrated a campaign to get Warner Bros. ‘attention and convince the studio to release the edited version of Zack Snyder’s director of Justice League—Which has become extremely expensive and slightly improved Zack Snyder’s Justice League—Proving once and for all that if a fan base is loud and aggressive enough, they can make any ridiculous dream come true (as long as your dream coincides with a movie studio feeling an overwhelming sense of desperation about how much Content is available) on your new streaming platform). The point is, they did it. It worked. They tweeted enough hashtags and received responses from enough people and made so much noise that Warner Bros. decided that it really made sense to spend millions and millions of dollars to close them (but in a legal way). Now … it’s happening again.

Today, while Christians on Twitter celebrated Easter leading “Jesus” to the number two trend in the United States (we’re just being sarcastic, “Happy Easter” is currently number one), Godzilla fans managed to get “#ContinueTheMonsterverse” to appear in the top 10 as well. The need for the hashtag is based on this idea This one Godzilla vs. Kong it looks like the end of the series in which Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have been working since Gareth Edwards. Godzilla in 2014, as the studios did not announce any kaiju films in progress after this new one. Unsurprisingly, people who like to see impossibly large gorillas jumping in the hollow center of the Earth and respectable actors saying phrases like “Godzilla is hurting people and we don’t know why” would like to see more of these things, and they think that driving #ContinueTheMonsterverse into the trend on social media will get the attention of WB and Legendary.

And would you look at that? Yes Yes. Today, Legendary tweeted a simple remark on the trending topic, confirming that, yes, he is aware that people would like these monster movies more. Nothing new has been announced, but that at least seems like a good sign for more city-destroying fun and happily meaningless mythology to come. After all, these films didn’t even feature Godzilla’s horrible son, Minilla, and now that the Mechagodzilla card has been played, there’s no reason why Legendary and WB couldn’t make Jet Jaguar.
