Coming tomorrow with free update.
God of War (i.e. 2018) will receive a welcome visual boost on PS5 tomorrow, February 2, courtesy of the new Enhanced Performance Experience update from Sony Santa Monica.
As explained in a new developer blog, tomorrow’s God of War update will feature an entirely new standard graphics option, designed to “get the most out of the enhanced performance capabilities of the PlayStation 5”.
Until now, PlayStation 5 owners playing God of War have been able to take advantage of the two graphics modes introduced in the PlayStation Pro version of the game – one favoring performance, which unlocks the frame rate, but restricts resolution to 1080p, and the other offering a checkered 4K resolution blocked at 30 fps.

The PS5 has already enjoyed an increase in frame rate compared to the PS4 Pro in Favor Performance mode, but the God of War update from Sony Santa Monica will feature a new standard configuration – the aforementioned Enhanced Performance Experience mode – which offers best of both worlds, synchronizing 60 fps in a 4K Checkerboard resolution of 2160p.

The free PS5 update for God of War will be available to anyone who owns a physical or digital version of the PS4 release and to players who obtained the game through Sony’s PlayStation Plus collection.
