GMC’s newly unveiled Hummer EV SUV has 830 HP electric ‘supertruck’

The next Hummer EV pickup will not be the only “supertruck” in the GMC fleet when it arrives next fall. On Saturday, the automaker unveiled its Hummer EV SUV variant, which forgoes the open bed in favor of an enclosed cargo area and a rear door assembly filled with externally mounted spare tire.

The five-passenger Hummer SUV is expected to arrive in early 2023 with the 830 HP Edition 1. It will have an estimated range of 300 miles, reaching 60 mph in 3.5 seconds (just half a second slower than the pickup) , and will sell for $ 105,595. Its 20-module Ultium battery pack will power a trio of engines mounted on the front and rear axles and will support 800 V charging at up to 300 kW. The 22-inch rims come standard. An Edition 1 with the optional Extreme Off-Road package will cost $ 110,595 and offer 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires, lower armor, front eLocker and virtual rear cabinets, as well as GM’s UltraVision camera system.

Edition 1 will be followed in the spring of 2023 by the $ 99,995 EV3X with all the same specifications as Edition 1, but without the right to boast of having one of the first. The $ 89,995 EV2X will also arrive at dealerships in the spring of 2023 and will offer up to 625 HP with 7,400 lbf of torque generated by a pair of motors mounted on the shaft and powered by a battery of 20 modules. There is no word yet on your 0-60 time. Finally, the $ 79,995 EV2 will arrive in the spring of 2024 and will provide 250 miles of range with a 16 V 400 module battery, although you can opt for the 20 V 800 module package that pushes the range back to over 300 miles as we go.

Like the pickup version, the Hummer EV SUV will include Extract Mode, which raises the vehicle’s body by 6 inches to help overcome obstacles; GM’s highly touted hands-free SuperCruise steering system, four-wheel steering and CrabWalk, which allows drivers to move the vehicle at an angle without changing the direction the SUV is facing. Pre-orders for the pickup and SUV are now open on the GMC website. Tune in Monday, April 5, when more details about the features and functions of the Hummer EV will be released.
