It’s good to know that all the Cruella de Vil costumes from the classic “101 Dalmatians” films are safely hung in Glenn Close’s closet.
This is what the Oscar nominee seven times revealed in a chat with Pete Davidson recently for Variety.
The “King of Staten Island” star revealed to Close that, as he grew up, he loved watching the 1996 Disney live-action “hysterical” movie and its 2000 sequel, “102 Dalmatians”, in which Close plays the villain, Cruella de Vil.
Davidson asked if she has any Cruella wardrobes. She always!
“I received my contract to keep all my fantasies I used in the film,” said Close. “So when they found out how expensive they were, they were unhappy with the fact that it was in my contract. They wanted to make another copy, another set, for me. I said no.”

Close, who is competing for the eighth Oscar nomination for his performance on Netflix’s “Elegy of the Hillbilly”, said he loved playing the character Cruella.
“I asked to get some of the original animated film dialogues because she said, ‘Chloroform them! Drown them! ‘ It’s a really horrible thing, “she told Davidson.” I realized that the meaner she was, the better she was. “

Close’s performance, topped by the strange costumes created by Oscar-winning designer Anthony Powell and Rosemary Burrows, is based on the villain of the 1961 Disney animated film, in which the evil Vil kidnaps the adorable Dalmatian dogs to make his fur coats.
Since making the film, Close has enjoyed returning to the character. Last year, she showed off a homemade Cruella costume she made up for a Bette Midler Halloween benefit.
Unfortunately, the coat is not an original from the “Dalmatian” films. Close revealed that the coat she is wearing is actually from her 2017 film, “The Wife”. We like to think that Cruella’s true fantasies are so elitist that you can’t just dust your Insta.
The next character will be played by Emma Stone in the film “Cruella” which opens later this year.
