Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on both seasons of Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian”, had repercussions on social media on Wednesday after sharing several controversial posts in her story on Instagram.
Carano shared his story posts on Tuesday night. One of the posts she shared compared today’s divided political climate with Nazi Germany.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors … even by children. As the story is edited, most people today do not realize that, to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily arrest thousands of Jews, the government first caused its own neighbors to hate them simply because they were Jews. This is different from hating someone for their political opinions, ”says the post, which was originally made on a different Instagram account.
Another photo from Carano’s story showed a person with several cloth masks covering his entire face and head. The caption read “Meanwhile in California”.
Both posts were removed from Carano’s Instagram story on Wednesday afternoon. Other posts, including a quote saying “Expecting everyone you meet to agree with every belief or vision you have is fucking crazy” and one saying “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself”, remained.
Many people on Twitter started using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, marking accounts for Disney, Disney Plus, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm and requesting that Carano be removed from “The Mandalorian”.
Carano had courted the controversy on social media before, previously sharing incorrect information about wearing masks and electoral fraud. In November 2020, she dismissed people including their favorite pronouns on social media, adding “beep / bop / boop” to her biography on Twitter, which many fans have called transphobic. Carano later removed the words after saying he spoke to his “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal. “It helped me to understand why people put them in their biographies. I didn’t know before, but now I know. I’m not going to put them in my bio, but it’s good for all of you to choose. I am against bullying, especially the most vulnerable and [support] freedom of choice, ”she wrote at the time.
Representatives of Carano and Disney did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.
