Gillberg talks about the return of WWE RAW, WWE’s new lawyer about being a lifelong professional wrestling fan

– As noted earlier, last night’s WWE RAW saw The Miz and John Morrison present a segment of Dirt Sheet where Duane “Gillberg” Gill was brought back to fake the WWE Hall of Fame Bill Goldberg, while actor David Krumholtz faked WWE champion Drew McIntyre. Above is Gillberg’s post-show video talking about his return and what the job means to him.

“Dude, that was awesome,” said Gillberg. “I mean, you see it now because I love it. This is all for me, it is my life. It’s really. You don’t know how much I wish at my age to still be able to have a full-time job doing this. It’s my love. I mean, every day … that was something they used to say to me in the locker room, ‘Look, there goes Gil!’ I always smiled, always smiled, always happy, because I mean … you just saw what I do. How can you not like doing this? It’s a blast and making people laugh, is what I do best if I can.

“Like, when I die, I want people to say, ‘That was a nice guy’. And that is all I want. I’m always nice to everyone, I try to be, and that feeling I get when I go out is everything. I mean, here I am with The Miz and John Morrison, two of the biggest names in the business today, and they are just as polite and kind, as you saw, with me and everything. That’s why I love what I do. I mean, that’s all, you know? It’s really.”

– WWE hired veteran attorney Darren Traub to work as the new senior vice president for business and legal affairs, entertainment and talent management, according to the eSports Observer. Traub will start working with WWE on Monday, January 25th.

Traub will manage all legal issues for WWE TV, film production, WWE Studios, music, live events, talent management, games, streaming and all of the company’s “metaverse initiatives”, according to its LinkedIn. Traub previously worked for several prestigious law firms for a period of 16 years, including Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, Akerman LLP and Herrick, Feinstein LLP.

Traub announced his hiring on LinkedIn last week and noted that he has been a WWE fan since WrestleMania 3.

He wrote: “As I grew up, two sporting moments impacted my life. The first was UGA’s victory in the 1980 national college football championship (and 40 years later I am still waiting for them to regain the title). The other was when Hulk Hogan’s body hit Andre the Giant. The epic ‘body slam heard all over the world’ not only showed that you can get off the mat, no matter how much you’ve suffered, but with a healthy dose of bravado you can overcome even the biggest obstacle that brought you down . From that moment on, I was addicted to WWE forever. Therefore, I am excited to announce that, starting on January 25, I will put on my socks, tie my boots and enter the ring as senior vice president of business and legal affairs, entertainment and talent management at WWE, where I will manage legal department for the production of WWE’s television divisions, movie studios, live events and music, as well as talent management, relationships and development, including games, streaming and metaverse initiatives. I am excited to contribute to the continued growth and expansion of this iconic sports entertainment brand! #entertainment #newjobalert ”
