Finally, our long national nightmare is over: four months after the incomprehensibly beautiful couple Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik welcome their first child, a girl, we know the name of that child. Last night, tireless social media detectives noticed that Hadid silently altered his Instagram biography with a new and notable descriptor: “Khai’s mother”. Unless this is part of some strange stratagem, which seems unlikely, we can assume that this is actually your baby’s name.

In the midday since Hadid’s biography caused all this commotion, neither she nor Malik spoke publicly about the name, which means that we still don’t know the true meaning behind it. But there is at least one convincing theory. Someone apparently close to the couple told TMZ that they wanted to honor Hadid’s paternal grandmother, Khairiah. This is a convincing theory. Others noted that the name is similar to Bella Hadid’s middle name, Khair. Furthermore, apparently, Khai means “crown” or “crowned” in Arabic.

Whatever the inspiration, the name is beautiful, just like the baby – we presume. While Hadid and Malik each shared captivating photos of themselves holding Khai’s little hands in their own hands, we haven’t seen the little girl yet. Based on the measured release of baby information so far, I imagine we won’t have a complete Khai photo for at least another two or three months. Hey, something else to look forward to.
