Giants signing Adoree ‘Jackson in the NFL

The wave of spending by the Giants continued on Monday, with yet another big splash at the free agency.

Big Blue reached an agreement with cornerback Adoree ‘Jackson, a source confirmed, filling a large gap in the squad of the team. The deal is for three years and $ 39 million with a guaranteed $ 26.5 million, according to a source.

Jackson visited the Giants from Sunday to Monday before agreeing to the deal. Giant players have made a recruiting effort. The safety of the giants, Logan Ryan, a former teammate of Jackson in Tennessee, even flew to take him out to dinner on Sunday night. Jabrill Peppers also used Twitter to recruit Jackson.

The 25-year-old was released by the Titans last week after four seasons. They summoned him in the first round of the USC in 2017. Jackson gives the Giants a starter alongside James Bradberry, something he missed last season. Jackson was scheduled to visit the Eagles on Monday night, but canceled the visit when the Giants arrested him.

The move comes two days after the Giants signed a four-year contract with wide receiver Kenny Golladay for $ 72 million. Golladay was considered the main free agent recipient. They also signed a $ 63 million three-year contract with striker Leonard Williams.

The Giants spent approximately $ 123 million in guaranteed money last week. This is second only to the Patriots and Cowboys in spending on free agency. The Giants are showing an urgency to improve the squad after going 6-10 last year and finishing second in a weak NFC East.

Jackson received a $ 13.5 million signing bonus and will receive $ 16 million in the first year. The contract could reach $ 44.5 million if he gets incentives right.

It was a surprise that Jackson hit the market. The Titans chose their fifth year option for 2021, but released it last week, the day before their salary was guaranteed. The change saved $ 10 million in wage cap space. Tennessee added former Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

Jackson started 41 games in the last four years for the Titans. A knee injury forced him to miss his first 13 games last year. He returned for the last three games of the regular season and the Tennessee playoff loss to the Ravens. He has two career interceptions, 33 passing deflections, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Jackson can also return kicks and punts.

Pro Football Focus ranked it as the eighth best cornerback of 115 in 2019 with a score of 79.9. They placed him 27th out of 112 corners in 2018 with a score of 73.0. He didn’t play enough to qualify last season.

The Giants signed a $ 45 million three-year contract with Bradberry, with $ 32 million guaranteed a year ago by a free agency. Bradberry played very well and was selected for the Pro Bowl. The Giants struggled to find a cornerback to play against him.

The plan was for ex-first-round pick DeAndre Baker to start, but he was arrested and then cut. Another draft pick, Sam Beal, opted out of the season. Corey Ballentine, Isaac Yiadom, Ryan Lewis and Julian Love ended up starting, but none was the answer.
