Giants News, 12/26: Golden Tate out, Daniel Jones update, Logan Ryan, more

Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Golden Tate OUT vs. Ravens

Wide receiver Golden Tate will miss Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a calf injury. Tate is fourth at the Giants in receptions this season, with 35.

Without Tate, wide receiver Austin Mack will likely have more playing time. Joe Webb, added to the list of 53 players before the game against the Cleveland Browns, as another option. We were also able to see Dante Pettis, claimed with exemptions at the beginning of the season, active for the first time.

With Tate out and Kyler Fackrell and running back Devonta Freeman assigned to return from the reserve, there may be a series of changes to the list announced late Saturday.

“We have to change some numbers for a lot of things on the list with a lot of guys possibly going out,” said coach Joe Judge. “We have to make sure that we make the best decision for the entire list.”

Questionable Daniel Jones

The Giants are listing quarterback Daniel Jones as questionable for Sunday. There was no access to the media on Christmas Day, but earlier in the week it looked like there was optimism that Jones, who had lost two of the last three games to a hamstring and then ankle injury, would play on Sunday. The judge said on Thursday that he was “really encouraged” by what he had seen of Jones in practice on Wednesday.

“The intention is that if he can play, we intend to play with him,” said Judge.

Logan Ryan’s reaction

Logan Ryan undoubtedly had a great Christmas, winning a $ 31 million three-year gift from the Giants with a guaranteed $ 20 million.

“I feel very grateful,” said Ryan in a statement released by the team. “We thank the Mara family, the Tisch family, (general manager) Dave Gettleman, (assistant GM) Kevin Abrams, the technical team, (coach) Joe Judge, (defensive coordinator) Pat Graham. I really wagered on myself waiting for the time it took and signing a one year contract. I just wanted to prove to the fans, the coaching staff and my teammates what kind of player and leader I can be. And I honestly think I was proving it to myself, too. This year has been very faithful. I always believed in myself and I kept my head up and it worked for me in the end and it worked for the team in the end. I think it was a perfect fit from the start. “

Ryan was raised in South Jersey and played collegially at Rutgers. Now he can continue his career at home.

“It means everything to me,” said Ryan. “We played recently in Seattle, I was in London to play football, I played in almost every state where there is an NFL team. Coming home, I didn’t always think it was possible. To be financially secure and give all those Jersey kids who are in high school like I was 10, 12 years ago, an example of struggling and working like I was dawn and dawn to become a New York giant and do everything happen true. This allows all children to know what they do if they work hard and commit to it.

“I am the real fact that a child born and raised in Jersey, to come home and make his career complete by coming back and being part of a great team here like the New York Giants.”
