While the Georgia football team has four more weeks left in the season, the college football season is nearing its end in several states across the country.
At the end of each season, each state honors a Mr. Football to the best player. South Carolina recently named Mr. Football’s 2021 Georgia commit, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, for this season.
Ingram-Dawkins was somewhat off the radar during his recruitment. He received some great offers, but he seemed to be one of the most underrated recruits in the class until recently. In the past few months, it has skyrocketed on the leaderboards and is now the potential number 149, according to 247Sports Composite.
He designs as someone who can immediately throw situational downs for the Bulldogs next year, if necessary. He is six feet tall and weighs 298 pounds. Ingram-Dawkins is still learning how to play with his recent increase in size after adding 60 pounds between his second and third year seasons. His instincts outside the line of scrimmage are unmatched and must evolve into a frightening force with a little fine-tuning from the Georgia technical team.
Ingram-Dawkins joins an elite list of players who have won the South Carolina Mr. Football award. Here are just a few notable recipients and how they fared beyond high school:
2019: QB Luke Doty. He had several beginnings as a real freshman in South Carolina.
2010: DE Jadeveon Clowney. He started on the South Carolina defensive line for three years. All-America and Houston Texans No. 1 overall pick.
2008: CB Stephon Gilmore. He served for several years in South Carolina and was ranked tenth overall by Buffalo Bills. He was the NFL’s defensive player of the year in 2019 with the New England Patriots.
