George Paton attends South Carolina professional day

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton will be attending South Carolina’s professional day on Wednesday, according to Mike Klis of KUSA-TV.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn, son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, is arguably Gamecocks’ most notable prospect. Denver can still use more depth in the cornerback, so Paton will probably take a closer look at Horn.

Horn is the third best cornerback in the class this year, according to Luke Easterling’s rating on the Draft Wire.

Other notable candidates in the South Carolina draft include linebacker Ernest Jones, cornerback Israel Mukuamu and wide receiver Shi Smith.

Paton attended NDSU’s professional day two weeks ago, probably to explore quarterback Trey Lance. Paton did not attend Alabama’s first professional day on Tuesday. Klis reported that Paton was still working in a free agency (Denver re-signed safety Kareem Jackson and cut tight end Nick Vannett on Tuesday).

Paton sent college scouting director Brian Stark for Alabama’s first professional day, and Crimson Tide will have another professional day next week. For the Broncos, QB Mac Jones may be Bama’s most notable prospect this year. It will be interesting to see if Paton participates in Jones’ second professional day.
