A relatively recent interview with George Lucas revealed an interesting detail about the most recent and highly controversial Star Wars trilogy produced by Disney.
In October 2020, Lucas alongside his wife and Starbucks President Mellody Hobson appeared as part of a series of virtual speakers for the East Harlem school at Exodus House.
During the interview, 7th grade student Jeremiah asked Lucas at around 42:50 minutes: “The world has changed so much since the first Star Wars film, how do you think the changes in the fight for racial justice will impact the universe of Star Wars ahead? “
Lucas replied: “I don’t know, I mean. I kind of lost control of Star Wars, so he’s taking a different path than I intended. “
He then added: “But the first six [Star Wars films] they are very mine and my philosophy. “
“And I think that philosophy goes beyond any particular era, because it is based on history, it is based on philosophy, it is based on a lot of things,” he continued.

He continued: “The first three basically show how democracy turns into a dictatorship and you end up with a tyrant, the Emperor. It is very important now, where we are now in our political history. ”
The creator of Star Wars also explains: “All the various colors and shapes of aliens and everything, that live in that world, is a normal situation, there is no real discrimination.”
Lucas continued: “The only discrimination is against robots, and we have not yet reached that period and I am sure that robots will be able to overcome it because they do not have the same feelings”.

“But it really shows what politics is like, how things are and how to fight those ideas. And a lot of it really has to do with overcoming fear, ”added Lucas.
Lucas would continue to answer the question by plunging into the fall of Anakin and drawing parallels with humanity’s journey on Earth.
Interestingly, that last part almost feels like a blow to L3-37 – the woken android of Solo: A Star Wars Story who was an advocate for the rights of androids, and also apparently had a relationship with Lando Calrissian – but this is mostly speculation.
YouTuber Ryan Kinel commented on Lucas’s response and referred to Disney’s language that the sequential trilogy was the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga.
He said: “This is not the Skywalker saga. 7, 8 and 9 are not Star Wars. It’s Disney Star Wars, which is a very different thing. George Lucas just explained that to you. He agrees with you. He agrees with you that this is not part of his story. That’s what this man is saying now. “

George Lucas decided to sell Star Wars to Disney in 2012 and recently revealed that this was because working on a new trilogy would take at least another 10 years of his life, and he decided to raise his new daughter instead.
