George Clooney, newcomer from The midnight sky, is set to exec to reset the Buck Rogers.

Clooney and his Smokehouse co-founder Grant Heslov joined the project, which is being written by Lost comic book artist and writer Brian K. Vaughan. The studio is legendary.

Although there are no acting deals, reports suggest that Clooney is being cast to star.

The duo will be executive produced by Don Murphy and Susan Montford, from Angry Films, and Flint Dille, grandson of John F. Dille, editor of Buck Rogers’ original comic book.

It is based on the character created by Philip Francis Nowlan in 1928, which was later turned into a television series – Buck Rogers in the 25th Century for NBC. The show ran for two seasons starting in 1979.

It is centered around Captain William Anthony “Buck” Rogers, played by Gil Gerard, a pilot, whose spacecraft malfunctions and Rogers is accidentally frozen for more than 500 years and transported to a world where the Earth was rebuilt after a nuclear war.
