His co-star at the time, Michelle Pfeiffer, said he smelled “like a brewery”.
During a virtual meeting for the 25th anniversary of the film “One Fine Day”, George Clooney revealed that he was not in good shape one day on the set.
Speaking to costar Michelle Pfeiffer for the Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Clooney recalled showing up for work after a night drinking cocktails with Cindy Crawford and longtime husband Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber.
“The other thing about the film was, with very few exceptions, we were making two different films. I was in one world and working, and you were in another world and working, ”he began, referring to the fact that the two of them spent a lot of the film apart from each other.
“I was in New York, staying at the Morgans Hotel, and my friend Rande Gerber, who is now my partner in the tequila company – I had the day off. So I had a few drinks, ”he continued. “We stayed up and had some vodka or something. So I got home at 1 am, and I said, ‘Oh s —. I was really upset. “
“I woke up at 5 am. I thought, ‘I feel good’. So I looked in the mirror and thought, ‘Oh, I’m still drunk,’ “added Clooney.” I got to the set, we walked over to the trailer and I sat down and you looked at me. You said, ‘What?’ And I said, ‘I didn’t know we were going to work today.’ And you say, ‘You’re still drunk’. It’s a scene we did in an oner where you and I are talking to each other. I kept trying to spray any mouth spray I could because I smelled like … “
“Like a brewery,” interrupted Pfeiffer, before Clooney said it was more like a “distillery.” She also remembered another day when he appeared with a “broken face”, an injury that Clooney suffered while playing basketball with the team during a lunch break.
"
I got elbowed in the face of one of the crew members and broke my eye socket, “he added.” And I was like, ‘I can still shoot.’ I remember that we actually shot scenes where we blocked half my face with a child. “

It has been 25 years since the film’s release and since Pfeiffer and Clooney met in person, she said.
“I think it was your plan, actually. This is called a restraining order,” joked Clooney, before revealing how they met long before starring in the 1996 film together. “I met you in 1982, when I was dating your sister, Dedee. You were living in Santa Monica, and she lived over the garage. I remember why it was so exciting to see his career take off. Suddenly, it was’ Scarface, ‘and’ Ladyhawke. ‘I just remember thinking, I met someone whose career had just exploded. “
Clooney can now be seen on “The Midnight Sky” on Netflix, while Pfeiffer’s “French Exit” opens in theaters on February 12.
