George Clooney gives the restart of ‘Buck Rogers’ a great star power

Biddy biddy biddy. The sci-fi classic “Buck Rogers” is set to be thawed out again, but this time in the 21st century with some great star power.

George Clooney joined the next limited series as an executive producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who added that while there is no acting deal currently in place, it can be a “potential vehicle for the stars” for the veteran actor .

Legendary is developing the adaptation, written by Brian K. Vaughan, as a possible starting point for a subsequent film and an anime release.

Buck Rogers first appears in the sci-fi magazine Amazing Stories in 1928 as a war veterinarian who falls into a coma and wakes up in the 25th century. A popular comic book, radio series and 12-part film series have been released throughout the 1930s

The character’s most recent film, “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century”, began as a film pilot for TV in 1979 and then spanned two seasons on NBC. In this cult classic, Buck, played by Gil Gerard, was an Air Force pilot / NASA astronaut who was frozen in space in 1987 for more than 500 years.

Clooney most recently starred, directed and produced the dystopian “Midnight Sky”, his debut project for Netflix.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait to see if he will be the one to wear Gerard’s comfortable suits as the character.
