Genshin Impact shares a special video with Barbara

Impact Genshin The developer miHoYo released a very special video that is essentially just the game’s idol character, Barbara, talking about … things. She offers to listen to “The Traveler”, the protagonist of the game, and maintains a one-sided conversation about praise and discouragement and generally acts like a kind of vtuber based on the Hydro-tuned character of the video game.

Vtubers, or “Virtual YouTubers”, are basically just rigs of animated characters that respond to what is being recorded on one side to produce the effect of a virtual character saying and moving like a real person. Lately, there has been a sharp increase in its popularity in English, thanks in large part to vtubers like Watson Amelia, Gawr Gura and others. Given Barbara’s animation in the video, which you can check out above, it really looks more like the game model being animated than a traditional vtuber rig, which is usually much less agile, but the basic premise is the same.

Impact Genshin is currently available, free to play, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and mobile devices. The video game is also set to eventually be released for the Nintendo Switch. The 1.2 update “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon” recently launched and added a whole new area, characters, events and more. The version 1.3 update is scheduled for release on February 3.
