One of the most sought-after materials in the Genshin Impact at the moment is crystalline Crimson Agate to increase the level of your Frostbearing Tree. You know, the scary-looking old tree that arrived in update 1.2 of Genshin Impact and that rewards you with weapon-level material, character experience, Mora, Wishes and a brand-new glider.
But where do you find the Frostbearing Tree? How do you collect Crimson Agate? And what are crimson wishes? Let’s take a closer look at this new Genshin Impact 1.2 gameplay feature!
How to unlock the Frostbearing Tree from Genshin Impact
The Frostbearing Tree icon will not be visible on your map if you have not yet discovered and released it. After entering the Dragonspine region from the research camp (this is also where the Dragonspine mission line begins), just follow the road and you will find a large fragment of ice. Paimon will comment on this when you are close enough.
The Frostbearing Tree is trapped inside the ice, but the game does not say so. It also doesn’t say how to release it, but it’s not that difficult. Do not try to break the ice immediately; you need to collect Scarlet Quartz to melt it. Each time you pick up a piece of quartz, go directly to the ice fragment and use an attack (the normal attack will do). You need to do this four times to completely melt the ice and unlock the Frostbearing Tree.
This is where you can find the 4 pieces of scarlet quartz:
- Beside the road while walking towards the Frostbearing Tree; right side.
- When you are in front of the ice fragment, turn to the left; there is a large Mitachurl sitting next to him.
- On the right side of the road, but a little higher on the rocks. There are some enemies here as well.
- Behind the fragment of ice, on the grass.
How to find Genshin Impact Crimson Agate
Now that you have unlocked the Frostbearing Tree, you can see its location on the map. You can also start to level it to get your rewards. To do this, you need to make offerings of bright red stones called Crimson Agate. The only problem is … where to find Crimson Agate?
Make sure not to confuse Crimson Agate with Scarlet Quartz, because they are somewhat similar. In addition to scarlet quartz, the crimson agate is shaped like a flower and shines. It is also much more difficult to find. There are at least 80 locations in Agate Crimson, but these are the first ten that you can easily find in the starting area of Dragon’s Spine. That’s enough for you to get your first upgrade from the Frostbearing Tree.

Keep an eye on your minimap while exploring the rest of the Dragonspine. Like the Anemoculi and Geoculi, every time you get close to a piece of Crimson Agate, the icon will appear on the map.
Genshin Impact Crimson Wish
The amount of Crimson Agate that you can find in nature is limited. After reaching level 8 of the Frostbearing Tree, you will unlock the Crimson Wish missions. Completing these missions will reward you with Crimson Agate, which you need to use to update the Frostbearing Tree to the maximum level of 12. There are five Crimson Wishes available at a time, and they will be updated every Monday and Friday.
Ice carrier tree rewards
The rewards of offering Crimson Agate to the Frostbearing Tree are quite varied. There are twelve different levels, all granting Adventure Rank, Mora experience and weapon enhancement materials (level up), plus a special item. This is a level of all the special items you can get by offering Crimson Agate to the Frostbearing Tree, in addition to its purpose:
- Wishes: three known destinations and one intertwined destination. You can spend them on the corresponding Wish banners to obtain a new weapon or character.
- Character experience material: use this to level the characters you already have.
- Northlander Polearm prototype: a basic material used to make any 4-star cutting edge weapon manufactureable at a blacksmith station.
- Namecard: to decorate your profile.
- Diagram: Frostbearer. This is the craft recipe for making the Frostbearer Catalyst.
- Insight Crown: a rare character-level material.
- Wind Glider: Wings to hide snow. No purpose but to make you the most stylish person at Teyvat.
- Diagram: Heating Bottle. This is a special item that is very useful to survive the Dragon’s Spine. Read on to find out how you make this item.
How to get a Genshin impact heating bottle
The Heating Bottle recipe is unlocked at level 4 of the Frostbearing Tree. It will protect you from the harsh Dragonspine climate, slowing down the Sheer Cold process, so it’s great to use it when searching for Crimson Agate and performing Crimson Wish quests.
To make one, you need to go to a craft station. There is one in Mondstadt and in the port of Liyue. As for the materials, you need Flaming Flower Stamens and Starsilver. The first can be found throughout Teyvat; just use a Hydro or Cryo skill on the burning flower to collect it. The latter is a new common feature that can only be found in Dragonspine.
