Genshin Impact 1.3 is being released as part of a major new update that will bring Banner Xiao, among other things, to the popular free-to-play game.
This will mean maintaining and downloading a new patch on all platforms on February 3, 2021.
And the first phase of this release will be the official preload and trial period for MiHoYo developers.
The preload of Genshin Impact 1.3 is scheduled to launch on February 1st, at around 3:00 GMT.
From what has been shared so far, this option will be available for PC and Mobile, without mentioning support for PlayStation 4.
And if you play Genshin Impact on PC, you can still play while preparing for preload, with some limitations.
A message from MiHoYo explains: “Travelers on the PC can still play while pre-installing the game’s features. Pre-installation will take up a certain amount of your network’s bandwidth, so it’s best to make sure you have a good network connection before starting pre-installation.
“Travelers on mobile platforms will not be able to play during the pre-installation of the game features. It is recommended that travelers complete all domains or other challenges they wish to complete before beginning the pre-installation process.
“After completing the pre-installation process, travelers can experience the content of the new version more quickly, once the update maintenance period is over.”
And as you can expect, by preloading the new major update for Genshin Impact, you will reduce the time the game spends updating features the first time you enter version 1.3, even if you have not fully completed the pre-installation.
To prepare for preload today, here are the instructions shared by the development team:

After the pre-installation function is available, you must first update the Genshin Impact Launcher. After updating the launcher, a “Pre-install game” button will appear to the left of the “Start” button. Click “Pre-install the game” to download the latest game features.
After completing the pre-installation, when the version update is released, open the launcher again and click “Update” to install the game directly, without any need to download the game’s features.
If the pre-installation is not completed, when you reopen the launcher and click “Update”, the game features will continue to be downloaded from the point at which the pre-installation progress has ended.
Mobile (iOS and Android)
Method 1: Travelers can start to pre-install the update features by going to the Paimon Menu> Settings> Other> Pre-installation feature pack.
Method 2: Travelers can also begin to pre-install the update features by tapping the “Pre-install feature pack” icon in the lower left corner of the login menu.
According to MiHoYo, when the version update is released, travelers on iOS devices must log into the App Store and tap Update. Android users can open the game and follow the instructions on the screen (or open Google Play and tap Update).
Another big part of this week’s Genshin Impact update will be the launch of the Banner Xiao event. It will be available after the release of Genshin Impact 1.3 on February 3.
Xiao from Genshin Impact will be an anonymous user of a gunpowder weapon, joining people like Xiangling and Zhongli, and making him a little rarer commodity.
Xiao also looks like a powerhouse, with no supporting character statistics promoted by the MiHoYo team.
Instead, the next five-star character in Genshin Impact will distribute high-speed blast damage, which looks very exciting.
This week, the development team revealed Xiao’s background story as well as his list of skills, which can be found listed below:
Whirlwind Boost: Performs up to six quick strikes in Normal Attack, Loaded Attack Consumes resistance to perform an upward boost.
Lemniscatic Wind Cycling: Runs at a high speed and inflicts Anemo damage to enemies in its path. It can be used while in the air and starts with two charges.
Bane of All Evil elemental burst: Improves a number of statistics, including Xiao’s jumping ability, DMG rates, which are also converted to Anemo.
The effects end when Xiao leaves the field and also causes the character to lose HP while in this state.
