Genesis seems to have hit the nail on the 2022 GV70

The Genesis may have been a little late for the SUV party, but with the new GV70 and the larger GV80 it appears to have produced two large luxury SUVs that serve as real rivals for the Germans.

In this clip, Asian Petrolhead had a chance to test the 2022 GV70 on the streets just a few weeks after the SUV was unveiled. Obviously, it will be a while before journalists from outside Korea can test the GV70, but in this initial review, it looks like it got the best grades.

The example tested here is the flagship GV70 Sport, which features a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 offering 375 hp and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to this engine and the all-wheel drive system, the SUV can reach 96 km / h in just 5.1 seconds. The reviewer recommends the 3.5-liter engine, but for those looking for more fuel efficiency, the base model that comes with a 2.5-liter turbo with 300 hp and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) is probably the best choice.

In addition to the impressive power trains, Genesis has equipped the GV70 with several driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist II, which features adaptive cruise control with lane centralization and lane change assistance. There is also a Smart Cruise Control system that slows down cornering, while another interesting piece of technology is the fingerprint reader on the dashboard that allows drivers to start without a key.
