A coalition of 12 state attorney generals on Wednesday asked Facebook and Twitter to tighten up community guidelines and free their services from the spread of disinformation by accounts that promote anti-xxx ideas.

“The misinformation disseminated through its platforms has increased the hesitation of the vaccine, which will delay the economic recovery and, more importantly, cause even more unnecessary deaths,” wrote the coalition of attorney generals in a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg , and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

The coalition points out that only 12 accounts and their member organizations are responsible for 65% of public anti-vaccine content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. In particular, the reports target people of color to discourage them from taking Covid-19 vaccines, the letter said.

The letter arrives the day before Zuckerberg, Dorsey and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai testified before the Chamber’s Energy and Commerce Committee on the topic of disinformation in their services.
