(GBTC), JP Morgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) – Crypto Market Update, Jan.6: Bitcoin Surges To $ 36,500, Ethereum Exceeds $ 1,200

Bitcoin: The price of Bitcoin (BTC), a leading digital currency, briefly hit $ 36,574 at 4:30 pm EST on the Bitstamp stock exchange, according to data provider TradingView.

It closed at $ 36,300 levels and was trading at $ 36,475 at the moment.

This is a new record for BTC, which broke the $ 35,000 level yesterday. The current high started in December, when it hit the $ 20,000 mark on December 16th. The digital currency has been on the rise ever since.

The most recent bull forecast was made by JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) strategists, who believe that Bitcoin could reach $ 146,000 in the long run, Bloomberg reported.

“The elimination of gold as an ‘alternative’ currency implies a big advantage for Bitcoin in the long run,” they wrote in a note on Monday.

But they add that “a convergence in volatilities between Bitcoin and gold is unlikely to happen quickly and is, in our mind, a multi-year process”, which implies that “the theoretical Bitcoin price target above $ 146,000 should be considered as a long-term goal, and therefore an unsustainable price target for this year. ”

Ethereum: Ethereum (ETH), the second leading market value cryptocurrency, also known as altcoin, has had a positive evolution since December 24, when it traded at $ 572.

Ethereum’s price surpassed the $ 1,200 levels at 12.54 pm EST and then dropped to $ 1,129. It has been traded at $ 1,182 so far.

The cryptocurrency peaked in January 2018 at $ 1,432.
