Garth Brooks performing in Biden’s possession, jokes that he will be “only Republican” there

Garth Brooks will join the celebrities who will perform at Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.

The Inaugural Presidential Committee announced on Monday that the country singer will take part in the inauguration ceremony of the 46th president of the United States alongside Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

The Committee said that the future first lady, Dr. Jill Biden, personally contacted Brooks, who joked that he was likely to be “the only Republican at the ceremony”. However, he made a point of noting that his presence there is to bring people together, not politics.

In a zoom call announcing the news, Brooks told reporters that he found the recent violence that broke out at the United States Capitol on January 6 “disturbing and sad.”

This is not the first time that Brooks has performed at a presidential inauguration. He previously performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony in 2008.

“I played for all the presidents that exist since Carter, with the exception of Reagan. It is an honor for me to serve … and it is one of the things that, if my family is around, no matter who the president-elect is, it is a honor to be invited, “he told reporters, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as increased security following the January 6 riot, which saw hundreds of people breach the security of the United States Capitol building, Biden’s inauguration will be primarily a virtual experience.

In an effort to make sitting outside what is traditionally a great meeting in Washington, DC. It looks more attractive, the Inaugural Committee announced last week that Tom Hanks will present a 90-minute special that will lead to the ceremony.
