Lady Gaga was one of several artists during the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, singing the National Anthem before the inauguration ceremony. After the event, Garth Brooks, who was present to present “Amazing Grace”, used Twitter to congratulate Gaga, writing that she was “fabulous”.
“You were fabulous today and every day,” Brooks tweeted. “A national treasure. Please thank Frederick and Miss Sarah for me! They saved a cowboy today. Oh, and tell Miss Sarah to hug your mother for me! Love, g.” It is likely that the country star was referring to Gaga’s hairdresser and makeup artist, Frederic Aspiras and Sarah Tanno, respectively, apparently indicating that they helped him with his own appearance during Wednesday’s event.

Gaga tweeted on Wednesday that singing the National Anthem at the inauguration was “my honor”. “I’m going to sing during a ceremony, a transition, a moment of change – between POTUS 45 and 46. For me, that has great meaning,” she wrote, adding, “My intention is to recognize our past, heal our present and be passionate about a future where we will work together with love. I will sing for the hearts of all the people who live on this earth. With respect and kindness, Lady Gaga.” The New York native also exposed a detail of her clothing, a large gold pin that she wore that represented a dove carrying an olive branch.

Brooks told a news conference on Monday that he hoped to send a message of unity with his performance. “This is a big day at our home. This is not a political statement, it is a declaration of unity,” he told reporters. “This is history and it is an honor to serve. This is more or less how I begin to serve this country.”
“We are more divided than ever, so this bridge that unites us … I may be the only Republican in this place, but it is extending, loving each other, because that is what will probably make us spend the most divided times we have “he added. “I want the split times to be behind me. I want to be able to have different opinions and embrace each other in the same football game.”
