Gamecocks, Wildcats matchup is rescheduled

South Carolina’s men’s basketball game against Kentucky, originally scheduled for December 29, will now be played on March 6. The opening of the conference season was postponed because Gamecocks were on a break from team activities due to the health and safety protocols of COVID-19.

The Gamecocks (5-12, 3-10) play in Georgia on Saturday and host Arkansas on Tuesday before ending the regular season in Lexington. Coach Frank Martin’s team is in a six-game losing streak, prolonged on Wednesday night with a loss in the state of Mississippi. Kentucky is 8-13 overall, with a record 7-7 in the league game. John Calipari’s team has won their last three competitions.

This will be one of Carolina’s three postponed games that receives a rescheduled date. The Gamecocks also had a road dispute on January 9 against Ole Miss and a home dispute on January 12 against Tennessee also postponed.
