Shane Beamer would love to guarantee the commitment of four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey to his football program in South Carolina in 2022.

Four-star signal caller Tanner Bailey is an award-winning recruit in the 2022 cycle. Although he has many suitors, he is turning to South Carolina’s football program before his final season. Who poses the biggest threat to Gamecocks to get their 2022 commitment?

According to 247Sports Composite, Bailey is the No. 9 professional style quarterback in the country, the No. 11 player in Alabama and the No. 219 player nationally in 2022. At 1.80 m and 195 pounds, the Fat, Alabama native has 21 official offers, but it is attracting a lot of interest from Alabama, Mississippi State, Oregon and South Carolina, with the latter as its first leader.

South Carolina football must contain the state of Mississippi to win Tanner Bailey

Gamecocks’ offensive coordinator, Marcus Satterfield, is serving as Bailey’s top recruiter for Columbia. He followed former Baylor Bears coach Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers in 2020, before venturing back to the college game to join Shane Beamer’s team in South Carolina. 247Sports, four have Bailey designed to be a Gamecock.

While the states of Alabama and Oregon may be in the mix, especially since Bill O’Brien was named offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide, the state of Mississippi appears to be South Carolina’s most formidable challenger for Bailey’s commitment. Bailey has the ideal frame and strong precision in the short game to thrive on Mike Leach’s Air Raid system in Starkville for the Bulldogs.

Look for Bailey to play college football in the SEC area, probably in South Carolina.
