A South Carolina football spokesman was able to confirm the defender Collin Hill will not return to the Gamecocks football program for the 2021 season. The transfer of graduation from the State of Colorado, which followed Mike Bobo to South Carolina last winter and started eight of the 10 games in 2020, decided that he will not use his extra year of eligibility in Columbia. It is not clear whether he has entered the transfer portal at this time.
Hill won the title of pre-season defender, started the first six games of the season, won another open defender competition after the Texas A&M game and started on the road against Ole Miss. Hill completed 59.1 percent of his passes (127 to 215) for 1,411 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) in 2020. The South Carolina quarterback room is now reduced to two stock market players, Doty and Class 2021 signatory Colten Gauthier, who moved to campus earlier this week.
