Gamecocks launch women’s hoops programming without conference

COLUMBIA, SC – Dawn Staley announced its team’s eight-game 2020-21 non-conference schedule on Thursday morning. Gamecocks will host three home games outside the conference, in addition to the eight SEC games scheduled to take place at Colonial Life Arena this season.

“Scheduling was more challenging this season, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to put our program in the best position to be prepared to fight for the SEC and the national championship again this season,” said Staley. “We are excited about the schedule we have drawn up and hope to get into the basketball season routine in a few weeks.”

Colonial Life Arena will host three non-conference games this season, starting on Wednesday, November 25, when the College of Charleston will visit to open the 2020-21 season. The Gamecocks and NC State will open a home and house deal on Thursday, December 3, when Wolfpack makes its first visit to the 2010-11 season. The last clash outside the conference in Columbia will take place on Thursday, December 17, against Temple.

In between these home games, South Carolina will travel to a three-game Thanksgiving weekend tournament to be announced shortly, and Gamecocks are back at the SEC / Big 12 Challenge this season, traveling to the state. from Iowa for a game on Sunday, December 6th. As is their now annual tradition, South Carolina and UConn will stop playing the conference in February for a debut match to be played in Storrs this season on Monday, February 8.

South Carolina has been approved to host fans at the Colonial Life Arena for home games this season, which will have an approximate capacity of 3,500 seats to allow for social distance between the two, four or six seat ticket pods. Facial coverage will be required for staff and fans at all times in all areas of the arena, and customers will be required to follow SEC and University fan safety guidelines.

For the 2020-21 season, all women’s basketball seats will be allocated through the seat selection process, which will begin on Monday, November 9. Fans who have paid the ticket deposit will be contacted by the Gamecock Club about the scheduled time.
