Another 2021 prospectus announced that it is signing with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Three star cornerback La’Dareyen Craig (Mobile, Ala./Baker), which was offered by South Carolina just over a week ago, stated on National Signature Day that it is signing with Gamecocks. He chose South Carolina over offers from the state of Mississippi and the state of Oregon.
The 1.8m-tall, 75-pound Baker High School prospect received an offer from Southern Miss before South Carolina pulled the trigger last week. Auburn considered running a late race, but did not dismiss the offer.
As a senior, Craig had 41 tackups, nine pass breaks and three interceptions. Watch your senior highlights here.
Defensive Coordinator Clayton White and defensive defense technician Torrian Gray helped secure Craig’s National Letter of Intent, during his first National Team Signature Day with Shane Beamer. Nate Hammett, who works in the South Carolina recruitment department, also helped bring Craig into the class.
Gamecocks continue in search of three-star security Juwon Gaston (Montgomery, Ala.). Your ad is scheduled for 2:30 pm. JUCO Linebacker Tavareon Scott, who attends Dodge City Community College, plans to sign in at 1 am.
Craig joins JUCO cornerbacks Marcellas Dial and Isaiah Norris, plus transfer from southern Georgia David Spaulding as the fourth defense in South Carolina’s class.
For a while, it looked like Craig would not qualify, Baker High School assistant coach Riley Lanier told TheBigSpur after the Gamecocks offer.
“But he knew what he had to do in the classroom and he did it,” said Lanier.
South Carolina reached National Signature Day with defensive attack commitments TJ Sanders (Marion, SC) and linebacker Kolbe Fields (Metairie, Louisiana). Both are configured to sign with Gamecocks. The recruitment of Gamecocks 2021 entered the National Signature Day at 94th place in the country, according to the compound 247Sports. They are the last in the SEC.
