Gamecocks cancel second ring contest

After receiving the results of Wednesday’s COVID-19 test round and due to the required quarantine period, the men’s basketball competition at the University of South Carolina in George Washington, scheduled for December 14, has been canceled.

The testing process will continue during the suspension of the team’s activities, which, depending on the negative test results, would resume on Wednesday, December 16, at least. Further updates will be announced when available.

South Carolina has already had a game canceled. The Gamecocks were set to face Wofford tonight, December 10, in their first home game of the season. The cancellation of that game was announced on Tuesday this week.

The next time South Carolina, under coach Frank Martin, is scheduled to enter the court on Saturday, December 19, against rival Clemson. Tigers and Gamecocks are set to fight at Colonial Life Arena at noon with coverage on the SEC Network. The only other game before the Christmas holiday is scheduled for December 23 against the state of South Carolina.

The Gamecocks are currently 1-2 in the season, with their victory against Tulsa in the final game of the Hall of Fame Classic. South Carolina lost its debut to Liberty in the first game of that tournament and also lost a dispute last Saturday to Houston on the road.
