South Carolina football is working hard to fill its 1922 recruiting class.
South Carolina’s technical team is preparing the ground to fill its 2022 recruiting class with some of the nation’s greatest talent since high school. Shane Beamer recently received his first official appointment in the class last month, with the promise of four star security Anthony Rose.
That momentum continues throughout this week, with a trio of potential customers including Gamecocks in their core groups. These three players are Alfonzo Allen, Mumu Bin-Wahad and Isaiah Sategna.
Allen, a four-star security guard from Hallandale, Florida, launched a Top 12 on Thursday afternoon that included South Carolina, along with Alabama, Miami, LSU, Clemson, Texas A&M, State of Florida, UAB, South Florida, State of Arizona, Central Florida and Southern Cal.
Allen plays at the same school as Rose, Gamecock’s recent commit, and may be looking to join his teammate at the next level. Rivals considers him to be the 175th best player in the country, regardless of position, and the 13th best safety.
Defender Mumu Bin-Wahad also released a list of finalists this week, leaving a Top 10 on Tuesday. That group included South Carolina, along with the State of Arizona, TCU, State of Mississippi, State of Michigan, Nebraska, Central Florida, West Virginia, State of Pennsylvania and Georgia Tech.
Bin-Wahad is classified as the 59th best corner in the country, and the native of Georgia has already been committed to the University of Cincinnati. He withdrew his pledge in January and opened his recruitment again. Gamecocks are considered to be pioneers.
Finally, the four-star wide receiver Isaiah Sategna added Gamecocks to his Top 10 earlier this week, alongside Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Missouri, Oregon, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
Sategna is classified as the 250th best player in the country and the best bet in the state of Arkansas. Texas A&M and Arkansas appear to have an advantage here, but South Carolina receiver coach Justin Stepp can help bridge the gap. Stepp was previously on the Razorback team before moving to Columbia this winter.
The addition of one or more of these prospects would be huge for Gamecocks, as all three operate in the main positions of need. Shane Beamer and Co. will do its best to secure the commitments and build the ’22 class in its first recruitment cycle.
