Gamecock football player unharmed in a scary road accident

South Carolina Senior Defensive Discharge Rick Sandidge he left unscathed, despite having turned off the road on a highway and his vehicle overturning. The 6-5 and 310-pound Concord, NC defender took to social media on Saturday to share photos of the crash.

“Honestly, no one can tell me that God is not real,” posted Sandidge. “After a tracker trailer cut me off on the road, all I ended up with was a severe headache and a small cut on my hands. Honestly, I’m blessed by the man above to be really looking out for me.”

In his fourth season with the program, the former four-star recruit from Concord High School has appeared in 34 of the 35 games played by South Carolina in the past three seasons. The following is courtesy of GamecocksOnline.com

2020 (Junior)
Defensive lineman of the third year who was in action in nine disputes … did not play against Florida … credited with five tackles, including a sack … three of his tackles and sack, the first solo sack of his career, victory came at Vanderbilt … also had two stops against Missouri.

2019 (second year)
He appeared in all 12 disputes … credited with six tackles … had half a tackle for defeat, a quarterback hurried and recovered a fumble … credited with two tackles in the victory in Georgia … his TFL and rush were against Kentucky, while his fumble recovery came at Texas A&M … nominated for the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll … voted the most improved player of the spring for the defense.

2018 (freshman)
We saw action in all 13 games … credited with 19 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for defeat and half a sack … counted half a sack in Ole Miss’ victory, a great move in the fourth period … recorded a season – best seven stops, including a TFL at Clemson … recorded five stops at the Belk Bowl against Virginia … nominated for the first-year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Concord (NC) High School in 2018 … coached by Glen Padgett … registered 83 tackles and seven sacks as senior … nominated for the NC Preps All-Class and 3A All-State teams … won first All-USA team North Carolina football team, elected by USA TODAY as senior … participated in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas … Rivals ranked him as the second best defensive tackle in the country, the third. best player in the state and No. 45 nationally … was the sixth best player in North Carolina, the 14th best defensive tackle in the country and No. 141 overall by the 247 composite sports ranking … ranked No. 136 overall and 11th best defensive tackle in the country as part of PrepStar’s Dream Team.
