Gamecock fans are still waiting for the Clemson football dynasty to start
Can you imagine the bitterness, anguish and absolute embarrassment that Clemson’s football fans would feel if they were in the shoes of their rival in the state?
Well, South Carolina Gamecock fans feel that every time they think about college football.
Of course, they try to mask those feelings by focusing on the brightest points, like how Ohio State defeated Clemson and how Alabama (an SEC team) won the National Championship.
After all, when you can’t win on your own, you have to face the difficulties of a conference.
Now, after a shameful defeat at the CFB Playoff and more question marks around the show, many South Carolina fans are beginning to think their time is coming.
They are watching patiently and waiting to see the end of Clemson football
Just a quick search on Twitter or listening to Gamecocks sports radio will allow you to find hundreds of South Carolina fans who are determined to believe that Clemson’s time in the national spotlight is over.
Of course, that feeling has been around for some time.
Remember? When Deshaun Watson left, it was the end for Clemson. Well, now it’s Trevor Lawrence leaving – along with two bad losses at the CFB Playoff – and the potential that Tony Elliott can leave.
Although it is a different set of circumstances, the story is still the same.
The truth of the matter is this: Dabo Swinney has already proved that he is willing to evolve (which should scare the rest of the nation), he is recruiting at a higher level than we were seeing during the two National Championship races and he has a quarterback coming in to take the place that could end up being better than Trevor Lawrence or Deshaun Watson when it’s all said and done.
While Gamecock fans (as well as others) are ready for the Tigers to leave, the truth is that Clemson football is not going anywhere anytime soon.
