First period

UND 1, Denver 0 – Jasper Weatherby (Mark Senden, Gavin Hain) 4:58. UND enters the plate first when Senden bends out of the corner with the puck and fires one to the top of the fold, where Weatherby deflects it over the glove of Denver goalkeeper Magnus Chrona.

UND 1, Denver 1 – Jake Durflinger (Antti Tuomisto, McKade Webster) 7:42. Denver ties at the end of a death penalty. Durflinger, in the wide area for a trip, leaves the wide area and Tuomisto hits him behind the UND defense. Durflinger hits UND goalkeeper Peter Thome and submits.

Second period

UND 2, Denver 1 – Shane Pinto (Matt Kiersted, Brendan Budy) 7:43. Caulfield has the puck along the goal line and ends up making a bad angle shot. Realizing that there is no one there and that it will be an easy defense, he keeps possession of the ball and continues to work in the corner. This eventually leads to a Budy shot from the point. Budy hits the post and the puck goes behind Chrona, where Kiersted hits and tries to score. He can’t, but Pinto finds and buries for his 14th NCHC leader of the season.

UND 2, Denver 2 – Carter Savoie (Ryan Barrow) 11:40. UND creates a grade A chance in the offensive end when Pinto hits Jacob Bernard-Docker wide open by cutting the slot. Bernard-Docker disturbs the puck, however, never gets a shot and Denver goes the other way in a two against one. Savoie, on the left side, shoots and hits the side of Thome’s glove.

UND 3, Denver 2 – Collin Adams (Jordan Kawaguchi, Riese Gaber) 15:55 (pp). UND was lucky to regain the lead. Adams, with the puck below the goal line, tries a pass to Pinto in the left circle. Adams’s pass hits Denver defender Griffin Mendel and hits behind Chrona.

Third period

UND 4, Denver 2 – Jasper Weatherby (Judd Caulfield, Brendan Budy) 11:28. Moments after the completion of a five-minute major for Carter Savoie of Denver, Caulfield enters the zone in an apparently harmless run and skates the puck to the right circle, where he throws a bad angle shot into the net. Chrona makes a great rebound and Weatherby moves on to his second goal of the night.

UND 5, Denver 2 – Judd Caulfield (Jordan Kawaguchi, Jasper Weatherby) 18:57.

UND also doesn’t have Grant Mismash, who is out with an undisclosed injury. The Fighting Hawks are putting Griffin Ness to Mismash. . .
