Immediately after the defeat of the Blueshirts in overtime, two nights ago, the team was involved in a little controversy. Tony DeAngelo and Alexandar Georgiev have a communication failure on the ice that ended up leading to Pittsburgh’s winning goal, and that incident ended in a post-game physical altercation. After the altercation, DeAngelo was released and Georgiev was out of practice due to what the team classified as a maintenance day.
Despite what is happening around the team, they are back in action tonight, as they seek to share their two defined games with Sidney Crosby, Tristian Jarry and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite maintaining the lead in the third period each of the three times they faced Pittsburgh, Rangers are 0-1-2 against the Penguins this season.
After the dust around the DeAngelo situation settled, news broke that Anthony Bitetto will make his Broadway debut tonight. Instead of putting Jack Johnson back on the line, David Quinn chose to give Bitetto his first live action of the season. He will be skating in the 3rd team pair with Brendan Smith, so look for Bitetto to play a smooth and error-free game while trying to guarantee a more regular place in the team.
Enjoy the game!
